Broken Frontier Awards 2014, Fiona Staples

Broken Frontier recently announced the winners of the Broken Frontier Awards 2014. Each of the staff writers wrote a short blog entry for each of the winning categories. I wrote the blog for Best Artist (Independent) winner, Fiona Staples, and you can read it HERE. Her stellar work on Saga has made it one of the most discussed comics of the last two years.

It's no exaggeration to say that her collaboration with writer Brian K. Vaughan has resulted in a book that is changing the face of comics with its candid approach to sex, violence, and a central relationship that is resonating with fans across the globe.

If you're new to Saga, pick up the two collected volumes and enjoy your new addiction to a book that is a gorgeous example of the power of comics as a storytelling medium.

Oh, and one note -- the artwork for the blog was selected by my editor at Broken Frontier. I mentioned the giant and his disproportionate body parts, but I didn't post that image of him. Honest!
